Hyderabad: Musharraf Faruqui, head of the Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TGSPDCL), has instructed officials to be available for consumers and hold weekly meetings every Wednesday in local areas.

At a recent meeting at the company’s headquarters in Mint Compound, Faruqui discussed with engineers that out of the 8,681 11kV feeders, 6,885 are now under the Feeder Outage Management System. The goal is to include all feeders in this system soon.

New AI-based services are being launched to track power demand, supply, and disruptions online. This will send instant alerts to engineers and help improve service efficiency.

The existing Feeder Outage Management System is already in use at substations. Adding AI services will help identify and fix supply issues more effectively, enhancing consumer service.

Faruqui also directed daily monitoring of power supply at the Distribution Transformer (DTR) level. Engineers must focus on problematic feeders and DTRs, conduct field visits, and quickly resolve issues. With rising power demand, especially in Greater Hyderabad, officials need to prepare detailed reports by 15 August to manage this growth. He stressed that new connections and services should follow the Standards of Performance (SOP) to avoid consumer complaints.
