Telangana TET Aspirants Face Issues with Distant Exam Centres

Aspirants of the Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test (TGTET-2024-II) have raised concerns about being assigned exam centres in far-off locations. The TET exam is set to begin on January 2, but many candidates claim they were not given test centres near their preferred areas despite opting for nearby locations during registration.

The exams will be held from January 2 to January 20. However, when aspirants downloaded their hall tickets from the official website, many were surprised to find that most exam centres were located in Hyderabad and some in Mahabubnagar. Candidates believe this is due to a shortage of proper computer facilities in colleges across districts, as the test is computer-based.

Each exam day will have two sessions: the first from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM and the second from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Approximately 2.75 lakh candidates are expected to take the test, including 94,335 for Paper I and 1,81,438 for Paper II.

Several candidates shared their concerns about the distance they would need to travel on exam days. Arti Rao, a resident of Rajanna Sircilla, was allotted a centre 210 kilometers away from her home. She noted that it would take her four hours to reach the venue and called for the school education department to consider extending the exam timings to accommodate travel.

Prashant, another aspirant from Mahabubnagar, said he had chosen a nearby centre but was instead assigned to Medchal, which is over 400 kilometers from his residence. He expressed frustration over the inconvenience caused by the long distance.

Candidates are urging officials to address these issues and provide a fair solution to help them take the test without unnecessary stress.
