Adilabad: Police have arrested three people involved in an attempted bank robbery that took place a few months ago at the Telangana Grameena Bank in Ramai village, located in the Adilabad rural area.
At a press conference held at the police headquarters, Superintendent of Police Aakhi Mahajan explained that a group of nine young people had formed a gang. They were attracted to a lavish lifestyle and easy money. Out of the nine, three have been arrested, three are still on the run, and the remaining three are already in jail for related crimes.
The attempted robbery happened on the night of December 13, 2024. The criminals tried to break into the bank by making a hole in the back wall. One of them entered the bank through the hole but was caught by a human motion sensor alarm, which triggered a siren. Hearing the alarm, the suspects quickly ran away before they could steal anything.
Police recovered tools used in the robbery attempt, including a gas cutter, a cylinder, and a crowbar.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Dagad Sai, Ashok alias Asha (who had earlier been arrested in an attempted murder case at Mavala Police Station), and Minugu Rajesh. Other members of the gang include Chavan Ravi, who is currently in jail for a previous murder-for-hire case and was earlier involved in an attempted murder case, and Sunny alias Sukdev, who is also in jail for property-related crimes.
The absconding suspects are Pushpa alias Pawan, Manikantha, and Jadhav Raju. Another accused, Govindu Karthik alias Golden Karthik, is currently in jail for a murder case in Adilabad II Town.
A total of nine people have been named in the case registered at the Adilabad Rural Police Station. The SP stated that all the suspects had been previously involved in theft and other criminal cases in different districts. A special police team has been formed to track down the remaining suspects.
