Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met with Arvind Kejriwal today to plan for the 2024 elections. Kejriwal proposed a plan for the Rajya Sabha that could serve as a “semi-final” before the general elections. Kumar wants to unite opposition parties against the BJP before the Lok Sabha elections.

Kejriwal called the Centre’s introduction of an Ordinance unconstitutional and said that Kumar supported him on the issue. They plan to fight it together. If all non-BJP opposition parties come together, they plan to defeat the Ordinance in the Rajya Sabha in the shape of a bill. If it is rejected, it will be a semi-final.

Kumar criticized the Centre’s action and questioned how they could take authority from an elected administration. He plans to discuss this with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on May 23. In addition, Kejriwal plans to meet with Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar on May 24 and 25 in Mumbai to discuss strategy for blocking the Ordinance in the Rajya Sabha.

Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD leader and deputy chief minister of Bihar, also attended the meeting and called the Centre’s action a “danger to democracy.” They are trying to change the Constitution, but it won’t happen, he assured them.
