Text Size: 100%

A goods train travelling from Dunguri to Bargarh in Odisha derailed near Sambardhara, causing five bogies carrying limestone to overturn. The incident took place on a private rail line that is owned by a business and not maintained by the Railways. The police are investigating, and there have been no casualties reported so far.

The private rail line runs between Dungri Limestone Mines and the ACC Bargarh Cement Plant and is not connected to the Indian Railway system. The cement firm manages the infrastructure, including the narrow gauge tracks, engines, and waggons. This accident occurred just three days after a quadruple train collision in Odisha that resulted in over 280 deaths.
