Hyderabad: The long-awaited expansion of the TSPA to Manneguda Highway has finally received the green signal after the National Green Tribunal (NGT) case was settled, paving the way for a major infrastructure upgrade in the western corridor of Hyderabad.
According to officials, the 46-kilometre stretch connecting TSPA Junction to Manneguda will be expanded into a four-lane road at an estimated cost of ₹1,000 crore. This project is expected to significantly improve connectivity between Hyderabad, Moinabad, Chevella, and Vikarabad, providing smoother travel and easing congestion for thousands of daily commuters.
The project, which was stalled for years due to environmental concerns, will now move ahead with redesigned sections to minimize the impact on banyan trees and green cover. Authorities have assured that tree removal will be avoided wherever possible by adjusting the road alignment.
Of the 950 trees affected by the highway expansion, about 150 will be carefully relocated to designated green zones. The remaining trees will be preserved through alternate planning and protective measures, ensuring a balanced approach to development and sustainability.
Local representatives, including MLA Kale Yadayya and Ram Mohan Reddy, emphasized that the project will not only enhance road connectivity but also boost economic and real estate activity in the region. Improved road infrastructure is expected to fuel the growth of farmhouses, resorts, and agro-tourism ventures along the route.
Officials have also mentioned that once completed, the new four-lane road will reduce travel time between Hyderabad’s Outer Ring Road (ORR) and Vikarabad, benefitting both commuters and local businesses.
This long-pending project is being seen as a major push toward balanced urban expansion while maintaining environmental responsibility.
