Hyderabad: Survey work for the proposed Mumbai–Hyderabad High-Speed Bullet Train corridor has picked up pace in parts of Moinabad Mandal in Ranga Reddy district. Survey teams have begun marking the tentative alignment across agricultural lands, sparking concern among local farmers whose fields fall along the proposed route.
The markings are part of the preliminary survey being conducted to finalise the alignment of the proposed high-speed rail corridor. Officials have clarified that the exercise is currently limited to route identification and does not immediately indicate land acquisition.
Survey Markers Appear Across Moinabad
According to local sources, railway survey teams have been conducting preliminary field surveys for the proposed Mumbai–Hyderabad Bullet Train corridor over the past several days. As part of the exercise, survey markers have been placed in Amdapur, Surangal and Kethireddypally villages of Moinabad Mandal. The proposed alignment is expected to continue through Chevella and Vikarabad after originating near Bahadurpura, close to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad. Similar survey markings have also been noticed in Chaudhariguda, Sultanpally and K.B. Doddi villages of Shamshabad Mandal, where officials are identifying the tentative route for the high-speed rail corridor.
Officials are reportedly placing survey markers at intervals of approximately 5 kilometres while identifying a relatively straight alignment suitable for high-speed rail operations.
Route Likely to Pass Through Moinabad and Chevella
Based on the ongoing survey, the proposed Mumbai Bullet Train corridor is expected to originate near Bahadurpura (Shamshabad), close to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad, before passing through Moinabad, Chevella and Vikarabad towards Maharashtra.
Reports indicate that the Telangana Government has already earmarked nearly 600 acres near Bahadurpura for the proposed high-speed rail project. The location is expected to serve as an important hub for multiple future Bullet Train corridors.
Three Proposed High-Speed Rail Corridors
As per the current proposal, the Bahadurpura hub is expected to connect three major high-speed rail corridors:
• Mumbai – Hyderabad
• Hyderabad – Amaravati – Chennai
• Hyderabad – Bengaluru
While feasibility studies and surveys are progressing, these corridors are yet to receive final approval and implementation timelines from the Railway Ministry.
Farmers Express Concern Over Agricultural Lands
The appearance of survey markings in the middle of cultivated fields has created anxiety among farmers in Moinabad. Many fear that fertile agricultural land could be acquired if the proposed alignment is finalised through their villages.
Local residents say the route currently passes through green crop fields, raising concerns about future compensation and the impact on livelihoods. Since many landowners in the area are small and marginal farmers, uncertainty over the project has become a major topic of discussion in the villages.
Four-Line Corridor Under Consideration
According to local reports, the proposed Bullet Train alignment is being planned as a four-line corridor. If implemented, the project may require a land width of approximately 300 feet, although no official land acquisition notification has been issued so far.
There are also indications that service roads may be developed on both sides of the corridor to improve accessibility and maintenance.
Officials Say Survey Does Not Mean Immediate Acquisition
Revenue and railway officials have clarified that the current exercise is only a preliminary engineering survey to study the most suitable alignment. The exact land requirement will be determined only after the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and approval of the final route.
If land acquisition becomes necessary, it will be carried out separately under the applicable laws, with compensation determined according to government norms.
Moinabad Emerges as a Key Infrastructure Corridor
Over the past few years, Moinabad has increasingly featured in several major infrastructure proposals, including the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR), logistics hubs, industrial developments and now the Mumbai–Hyderabad Bullet Train corridor. If these projects materialise, the region is expected to witness significant improvements in connectivity and economic activity over the coming years.
