Tummala says Vijaya Dairy needs an upgrade

Khammam: Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao emphasized the need to modernize dairy units. On Tuesday, he visited the Vijaya Dairy Unit in Khammam and initiated several development projects in the 15th division.

The minister instructed engineering officials to draft plans to eliminate the need for external electricity purchases. He suggested installing solar panels at the Vijaya Dairy Unit and ensuring clean water supply from the municipality.

He noted that nearby colony drains are affecting the company and called for work on drain diversion and building compound walls. The minister also stressed modernizing the chilling units at Vijaya Dairy in Khammam district.

Tummala highlighted the state’s reliance on milk imports due to decreased local dairy production, leading to a rise in adulterated milk. He urged cost-cutting and income-boosting measures for Vijaya Dairy.

Later, Tummala laid the foundation for constructing internal CC roads and drains in Kothagudem SC Colony at a cost of Rs 75 lakh and for CC drains on Kothagudem Veterinary Hospital Road in Khammam City, 15th Division, costing Rs 25 lakh. New ration cards were distributed to beneficiaries. City Mayor Punukollu Neeraja, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abhishek Agastya, corporators, Khammam RDO Narasimha Rao, Vijaya Dairy DD Ravikumar, public representatives, officials, and others attended these events.
