Police in Suryapet have arrested two individuals involved in a jewelry theft at Sri Sai Santoshi Jewellery Shop on the night of July 21. They recovered 554 grams of gold valued at Rs 60 lakh and Rs 92,500 in cash.
District SP K Narasimha shared details of the case during a press conference. Suryapet police used technical evidence to arrest Malik Molla from Baihor village in Dakshin Dinajpur district, West Bengal, on August 11. They retrieved 554 grams of gold and Rs 87,500 cash from him. Another suspect, Amar Bhatt from Nepal, was captured in Khammam with Rs 5,000.
Police revealed that Bhatt provided shelter and scouted the jewelry shop for the gang. Molla appeared before a local court in Balurghat, West Bengal, and was transported to Suryapet on a seven-day remand.
On July 27, police also detained a female accomplice, recovering 14 tolas of gold from her. During questioning, the suspects admitted that the seven-member gang—three from Nepal and others from West Bengal—executed the theft by drilling through the shop’s back wall after surveying the area.
SP Narasimha noted that three suspects are in custody, but four others—Prakash Anil Kumar, Kadak Singh Ahul Walia, Puran Prasad Joshi (all from Nepal), and Jashimuddin from West Bengal—remain at large. Special police teams are actively searching for them and working to recover the remaining stolen items.
