Two New Teams Join the Premier Handball League: Golden Eagles from Uttar Pradesh and Garvit from Gujarat

The Premier Handball League (PHL) will start on June 8 and end on June 25, 2023. Two new teams have joined the league. The Golden Eagles Uttar Pradesh and Garvit Gujarat are the second and third franchisees of the league, respectively. The Pavna Group of Industries from Aligarh owns the team from Uttar Pradesh. Roop Kumar Naidu, founder and director of Garvit Sports Private Limited (GSPL), owns the team from Gujarat.

Naidu was a part of the first Indian Handball Team to make its debut in an international competition in 1979. He represented India at the 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi. Naidu has also served as a sports administrator for over three decades at SAI, New Delhi. The PHL will be broadcast on the Viacom18 network on JioCinema, Sports 18-1 (HD & SD) and Sports 18 Khel.

Jain, the Managing Director of the Pavna Group of Industries, said that handball is a popular sport, but its popularity has faded. The goal is to ensure that handball regains its glory, and they hope to achieve this by joining hands with PHL. Naidu said that handball has been waiting for its moment in the sun for a long time, and the Premier Handball League is that opportunity. It is his opportunity to give back to the sport and help it find its needed recognition.
