In Nagarkurnool district, the Achampet police have arrested two thieves who were breaking into homes at night. On Saturday evening, the district’s top police officer, SP Vaibhav Gaikwad Raghunath, shared more details about the case. He explained that the two men, Motamarri Vinod Kumar and Mandla Shiva, had been stealing in the areas of Achampet and Kalwakurthy for several months.
The police caught the suspects during a surprise check at the Agriculture Market Yard in Achampet. When questioned, the men admitted to committing five burglaries in Achampet and four in Kalwakurthy. The police recovered 79.2 grams of gold, 1,310 grams of silver, and ₹1 lakh in cash from them.
SP Gaikwad revealed that the two accused were childhood friends from Singareni Colony in Hyderabad. They left school due to financial issues and later took up labor jobs. Eventually, they turned to illegal activities. During the day, they would look for targets, and at night, they broke into locked houses to steal.
Both men had been arrested several times before between 2012 and 2024 in Ranga Reddy district and had spent time in detention. SP Gaikwad mentioned that the accused would be taken into custody again. He advised the public to inform the police if they plan to be away from home for a long time and suggested keeping valuables in bank lockers or installing CCTV cameras for security.
The announcement was made in the presence of Additional SP Rameshwar, Achampet DSP Srinivas, Achampet CI Ravinder, CCS CI Shankar, Achampet SI Ramulu, and other police staff members.
