Two young innovators from Telangana have come up with creative solutions to everyday problems. Sunil and Sathwik, young students supported by the Telangana State Innovation Cell, designed two devices: a smart garbage-collecting robot and a solar-powered streetlight system called the “Astrl Pole.” These inventions aim to solve common challenges faced by locals.

Sunil, a class 9 student from Government High School in Shaikpet, developed the smart garbage-collecting robot. He explained that removing waste, especially in industries like chemical factories and healthcare facilities, can be dangerous for humans. His robot, equipped with sensors, beams, and a battery, is designed to collect waste and detect hazardous materials. This autonomous robot provides a safer way to handle toxic substances, which could otherwise harm people.

Sunil’s robot is still in the prototype stage, and he has plans to test it in several industries. He hopes that, in the future, Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be added to improve its functionality. The innovation was recently showcased in the Telangana State Innovation Cell’s “Intinta Innovator” programme, where it received attention for its potential to revolutionize waste management.

Meanwhile, another young innovator, Gandhari Aarush Raj from Nizamabad, has created the “Astrl Pole,” a solar-powered streetlight. Aarush, along with three friends, developed this system to reduce energy consumption and improve road safety. The Astrl Pole uses sensors to adjust the brightness of the light based on the presence of vehicles, and it also has an emergency SOS feature for accidents.

Aarush explained that traditional streetlights waste energy by staying on at full brightness even when it’s not needed. His innovation addresses this by optimizing lighting and energy use. The team is currently testing their prototype and plans to launch it once they achieve positive results.

Both innovations represent significant steps toward solving everyday problems and improving safety and efficiency in local communities.
