Varun Gandhi, a leader of the BJP, went to court on Saturday to file a complaint against a man in Varanasi who made insulting comments about his father on Twitter. The man, named Vivek Pandey, allegedly used the handle @vivekkumar IND to make lewd comments about Varun’s father, the late Sanjay Gandhi. Varun claimed that his father was a respected politician in India and should not be subject to such comments. He filed the complaint with the help of three lawyers and the court set a hearing date for April 25.

Varun claimed that Vivek Pandey introduced himself as the General Secretary of the Nationalist Hindu and Kisan Morcha and made the comments on March 29, 2023. Members of the local community in Bilsanda, Bisalpur notified Varun about the tweet during his visit to the region.
