On Saturday, TPCC State general secretary Rangineni Abhilash Rao led a protest in the Panagal mandal of the Kollapur Assembly segment in Wanaparthy district. The protest was organized to condemn the stripping of Lok Sabha membership of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. During the protest, an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was burned.

Rao expressed his disappointment with the suspension of Rahul Gandhi’s Parliament membership, calling it a blot on Indian democracy. He praised the former Wayanad MP for completing the Bharat Jodo Yatra of 4,000 km and for raising the issue of an alleged unholy alliance between Modi and Adani. However, he accused the BJP of conspiring against Gandhi by slapping cases against him and scrapping his Parliament membership.

Rao emphasized that it is undemocratic to suspend the Lok Sabha membership of Rahul Gandhi within 24 hours of a Surat court’s verdict sentencing him to two years imprisonment in a defamation case. He commended Gandhi for standing as a tall leader and not backing down despite the harassment and cases against him.

The protest was attended by Wanaparthy District Mahila Congress president Srilatha Reddy, Congress State Social Media wing secretary Paramesh, and other leaders.
