In Warangal, there was a mix of disappointment and success as the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) reorganized. Naini Rajender Reddy, the Warangal West MLA, hoped for the working president role but didn’t get it. However, the changes were beneficial for the Warangal district.
Naini Rajender Reddy has been part of the Congress for nearly 40 years, starting with the NSUI. Though he was denied a ticket three times, his dedication paid off when he won the Warangal West seat in 2023. When the BRS ruled for a decade, he faced many challenges but kept the Congress team united as the DCC chief after Donthi Madhava Reddy stepped down in 2014.
Naini was appointed as a TPCC Vice-President along with Basavaraju Saraiah, Hanumandla Jhansi Reddy, Lakavath Dhanvanthi, and Namindla Srinivas. Saraiah served as a minister from 2010 to 2014, then joined the BRS and became an MLC, returning to Congress later. Jhansi Reddy, living in the US, planned to run for Palakurthi MLA but instead supported her daughter-in-law Yashaswini due to citizenship doubts. Dhanvanthi led as Warangal Zilla Parishad chairperson. Namindla Srinivas aimed for the Wardhannapet ticket but conceded it to K R Nagaraju. His contributions were recognized with the vice-president role.
Four others were named TPCC general secretaries: Kathi Venkata Swamy, Boddireddy Prabhakar Reddy, E V Srinivas Rao, and Duddilla Srinivas. Kathi Venkata Swamy lost to Donthi Madhava Reddy in Narsampet in 2014. Boddireddy Prabhakar Reddy has been a party member since his youth. E V Srinivas Rao, a BC leader, is a devoted supporter of Naini Rajender Reddy. Duddilla Srinivas, brother of Minister Sridhar Babu, is also a loyal congressman.
Meanwhile, Mahabubabad MP P Balaram Naik seems likely to become the TPCC working president.
