A major infrastructure project connecting Warangal and Khammam has moved closer to reality with the completion of financial bid opening for the Detailed Project Report (DPR) preparation. The ambitious project includes a 4-lane highway between the two cities along with the Warangal Outer Ring Road (ORR).

According to official sources, the DPR work is scheduled to commence within the next two months following the successful completion of the financial bid opening process. This marks a significant milestone in the long-awaited road connectivity project.

The project carries an estimated cost of Rs. 3,200 crore and will cover a total distance of 119 kilometers, including the Warangal Outer Ring Road. This substantial investment is expected to transform regional connectivity and boost economic development in the area.

The scope of work includes comprehensive planning and land acquisition processes. Officials have confirmed that the DPR along with land acquisition procedures will be completed within 540 days from the commencement of work. This timeline indicates a structured approach to project execution.

The Warangal-Khammam highway is expected to significantly reduce travel time between the two major urban centers in Telangana. Currently, commuters face challenges due to inadequate road infrastructure on this route. The new 4-lane highway will address these issues and provide smoother connectivity.

The Warangal Outer Ring Road component of the project is particularly significant for the region. It will help decongest traffic within Warangal city limits and facilitate better movement of vehicles around the urban area. The ORR is expected to support industrial growth and improve logistics in the region.

The project is part of Telangana’s broader infrastructure development strategy aimed at improving inter-city connectivity and promoting balanced regional growth. Better road networks are considered crucial for economic development and improving quality of life for residents.

With the financial bid opening now complete, the selected consultancy firm will begin the detailed survey and planning work. The DPR will include technical specifications, environmental assessments, cost estimates, and implementation schedules for the entire project.

Land acquisition remains a critical component of the project timeline. The 540-day deadline for completing both DPR and land acquisition indicates the government’s commitment to expediting the project without delays that typically affect infrastructure projects.

The highway project is expected to benefit not just Warangal and Khammam districts but also surrounding areas by improving accessibility and creating new economic opportunities. Enhanced connectivity typically leads to increased trade, tourism, and industrial development in the region.

Transportation experts view this project as a crucial link in Telangana’s road network. Once completed, it will integrate seamlessly with existing national and state highways, creating a more efficient transportation grid across the state.

The project timeline indicates that actual construction work could begin approximately 18 months from now, once the DPR is approved and land acquisition is completed. The Rs. 3,200 crore investment represents one of the significant infrastructure commitments in the region.
