Asifabad: A special community event called the Watershed Jana Bhaagidaari Yatra was held at Jimal Dira village in Lingapur mandal on Monday. This program encourages people to take part in watershed development activities to improve water conservation and land care.
The yatra was officially launched on Friday by Kumaram Bheem District Collector Venkatesh Dhotre and DOLR officer Prakash Kumar. The event began in Pandibanda village in Asifabad mandal and continued for four days, covering areas like Kerameri and Jainur mandals.
On Saturday, a major activity took place in Jamule Dara Gram Panchayat where around 6,550 villagers participated in a voluntary labor event known as Shramdaan. With the help of a morning rally called Prabhat Bheri, the community completed development work worth about Rs 3 lakh.
Later, a meeting was held in Aumulari village. During the event, certificates were awarded to watershed chairpersons and guides, and saplings were planted to promote greenery.
District officials including DRDO Datti Rao Karu, MPDO Ramchander, and employees from the Ambani Upadi Guarantee scheme attended the program along with local villagers.
