Hyderabad: On Sunday, a group of MLAs from the Warangal district met with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at his Jubilee Hills home. They discussed local development and planning for the upcoming local body elections.
The MLAs also talked about resolving differences with the Konda family. Before the elections, they promised the Chief Minister they would reconcile with Minister Konda Surekha and her husband Konda Murali. This move aims to strengthen the party’s chances in the elections. The delegation, led by former Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari, included Revuri Prakash Reddy, Nayini Rajender Reddy, Mamidala Yashaswini Reddy, and KR Nagaraju.
The MLAs highlighted Warangal’s history of producing sports legends who have represented the district internationally and nationally. Many have won prestigious awards like the Arjuna and Dronacharya. Currently, Warangal has only one Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, managed by the District Sports Authority.
As Warangal city grows, the existing stadium won’t suffice for rising athlete needs. The MLAs proposed a new Telangana Sports School in Warangal. This school would provide academic and sports training, helping athletes prepare for competitions. They pointed out available government land for this project and suggested using 20 acres in Unikicherla village for a new stadium.
Revanth Reddy responded positively, contacting the relevant department to review these proposals. He promised support for Warangal’s development and committed to establishing the sports school and cricket stadium soon.
