Hyderabad welcomed the start of the 72nd Miss World Festival's Head-to-Head Challenge at T-Hub on Tuesday. Contestants from around the globe came together to talk about meaningful global and local issues, aiming to make their voices heard and their causes known.
During this powerful two-day event, participants shared their personal social impact projects. These young women spoke passionately about their dreams for a better, more compassionate world. This stage of the event is a key part of Miss World’s mission, known as ‘Beauty with a Purpose’, which focuses on using beauty as a force for positive change.
The most impressive speakers will move on to the next round. Judges will be looking for intelligence, empathy, and global awareness—qualities that truly reflect a modern Miss World.
Topics covered were wide-ranging and deeply impactful. Contestants addressed issues like mental health, education for underprivileged children, plastic pollution, autism awareness, gender-based violence, and climate solutions like solar power. Others spoke about preserving native languages, tackling child sexual abuse, and promoting anti-drug education.
On Tuesday, the spotlight was on contestants from the Americas, the Caribbean, and Africa. On Wednesday, participants from Europe, Asia, and Oceania will present their causes.
Each contestant had the chance to share what matters most to them. This platform not only showcases their communication skills but also their dedication to social improvement. The challenge highlights humanitarian values and encourages young women to become leaders in education, healthcare, environmental action, and community support.
Their heartfelt stories showed the strength, empathy, and determination behind their words. It was a reminder that Miss World is more than a beauty pageant—it’s a global movement for change.
Julia Morley CBE, CEO of the Miss World Organisation, praised the event, saying, “The Head-to-Head Challenge is not just a contest. It’s a celebration of courage, compassion, and purpose. The stories shared here are truly inspiring. Hosting this in Telangana, a region known for innovation and progress, makes it even more special.”
