Wrestlers Advised by Yogeshwar Dutt to Concentrate on Practice

Yogeshwar Dutt, a wrestler from India who won an Olympic medal, told other wrestlers to focus on their practice instead of protesting. He said that the police had already filed a complaint against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and they should concentrate on practicing.

Dutt is part of a committee that is investigating sexual harassment allegations made by wrestlers against the WFI president. He said that if the wrestlers want action to be taken, they need to report it to the police. The committee has been assigned to submit its findings after hearing from both sides. Only the court can punish someone.

The Delhi Police recently filed two complaints against the WFI president in response to claims of harassment made by female wrestlers. Top national wrestlers Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia protested by squatting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.

IOA president and former athlete PT Usha said that the wrestlers should have gone to the IOA instead of protesting. Some athletes supported the protest and expressed their sadness that the athletes who made the country proud are now suffering.
