Around 35,000 people gathered at LB Stadium in the city for a significant yoga event on Friday. Participants included the Indian Army, Central Government workers, yoga organizations, students, and individuals from various backgrounds.
Organized by the Union Ministry of Mines and led by Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, the event celebrated the upcoming 11th International Day of Yoga (IYD) 2025. The large-scale event fit this year’s global theme of “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”
Prominent figures like Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Verma, former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister Srinivasa Verma, several MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and famous actresses Sai Dharam Tej, Khushboo, and Meenakshi Chaudhary were chief guests. They participated in a guided yoga session during a 24-hour Countdown Event, which started at 6 AM.
Governor Vishnu Dev Verma highlighted yoga’s deep impact on personal health and its role in promoting the theme of ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health.’
Union Minister Srinivasa Verma encouraged everyone, especially the youth, to make yoga a daily habit. He stressed that yoga brings many benefits and is essential for a healthy lifestyle and overall well-being.
Union Minister Kishan Reddy pointed out that since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office, India has shared yoga with the world. He believes yoga should be a vital part of life, improving mental and physical health, benefiting families, society, and the world. He described yoga as the first doctor and a cure-all.
Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu praised the Union Minister for organizing such a grand event. He stated that yoga enhances fitness and balances the mind and body. With many facing work-related stress today, yoga acts as protection against these challenges.
Students and yoga instructors performed various yogasanas to traditional tunes, displaying their yoga skills.
