Officials from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) conducted a major vigilance operation in Kondapur on May 5, 2026, seizing 22 illegal motor pumps attached to water pipelines. The drive was carried out between 6:30 AM and 8:30 AM in Anand Nagar Colony and Prashant Nagar areas under Kondapur Ward, O&M Division-20, Serilingampally Zone.
During the inspection, authorities identified multiple violations where residents had illegally fixed motor pumps directly to water pipelines and taps to draw excess water during supply hours. These unauthorized installations disrupt normal water distribution and cause low pressure issues for other consumers in the neighborhood. The seized pumps were confiscated on the spot as part of the enforcement action.
The Water Board has issued a strict warning to all consumers that fixing motor pumps directly to water taps or pipelines is a clear violation of established rules and regulations. Officials emphasized that such practices not only breach water supply norms but also negatively impact the equitable distribution of water resources across residential areas. The board is intensifying vigilance operations to curb such illegal practices.
Offenders caught using illegal motor pumps will face immediate action including confiscation of the equipment. For repeat violations, authorities will impose a penalty of ₹5,000 along with the initiation of legal cases against the violators. The board has made it clear that strict enforcement measures will continue to ensure compliance with water supply regulations.
Residents experiencing low water pressure or supply issues have been advised to contact their local Manager, Deputy General Manager (DGM), or General Manager (GM) for assistance. Alternatively, consumers can reach out to the Water Board Customer Care at 155313 to register their complaints. The authorities have assured that all grievances will be addressed promptly through proper channels.
The HMWSSB officials stated that all complaints received through official channels will be resolved in a timely manner, and residents should refrain from resorting to illegal methods that disrupt water supply for the entire community.
