The Commissioner of Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) conducted a comprehensive field visit to Gachibowli Ward under Serilingampally Circle and Serilingampally Zone on the seventh day of the ongoing “One Ward Every Day” initiative. The visit focused on direct interaction with residents and Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) to assess civic conditions and address ground-level concerns. The initiative is part of the 99 Days Action Plan aimed at strengthening municipal services across all wards in the city.
During the inspection, the Commissioner reviewed multiple department-wise concerns raised by local residents. Significant attention was given to Manikonda Lake, where pollution levels have become a major environmental concern. Residents emphasized the urgent need for long-term restoration measures, including the establishment of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) facilities and comprehensive development of the lake surroundings. The Environment and Lake Development department was directed to prioritize these issues for immediate action.
Infrastructure and urban planning challenges also dominated the discussions. Residents highlighted the need for development of identified open spaces into functional parks with proper amenities. The Engineering and Infrastructure department was questioned about pending storm water drain works under SNDP Phase-II. The Commissioner stressed the importance of coordination with HMDA (Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority) to ensure completion of balance works within defined timelines.
Town planning issues were brought to the forefront as residents complained about encroachments on road land by private developments. These encroachments have significantly affected public access and road usage in the ward. The Town Planning department was instructed to take strict action against unauthorized constructions and ensure that public spaces remain accessible to citizens. As part of green initiatives, sapling plantation activities were also undertaken during the visit, with active participation from local RWAs.
The Commissioner also emphasized the importance of proper waste management and civic awareness among residents. Discussions focused on the implementation of 4-way waste segregation as mandated under Solid Waste Management Rules 2026. Citizens were encouraged to actively participate in the ongoing Census self-enumeration process. The Sanitation and Awareness teams were directed to intensify public education campaigns to ensure compliance with waste segregation norms.
The Commissioner issued clear directions to all departments to prioritize the issues raised during the visit and ensure effective inter-departmental coordination. All concerned officials were instructed to complete pending works within specified timelines to bring about visible improvements on the ground. The visit underscored the administration’s commitment to citizen engagement, field-level assessment, and solution-oriented action as part of the ward-by-ward effort to enhance civic services across Cyberabad.
