Hyderabad City Police have made a major breakthrough in the Jubilee Hills case involving a gang that posed as wealthy individuals on social media to trap and blackmail young women from influential families. The police arrested eight people including the kingpin Arjun, his brother Rajeev from Bengaluru, their mother, uncle, and four other accomplices. The gang operated by creating fake profiles on Instagram to portray themselves as rich youngsters and targeted girls from well-to-do families across the city.
According to police officials, the accused used luxury cars to lure their victims and gain their trust. Once the girls were convinced of their wealthy status, they would be taken to isolated locations where they were sexually assaulted. The gang members filmed these acts and used the videos to blackmail the victims for lakhs of rupees. The organized nature of the crime and involvement of family members in the operation shocked investigators during the probe.
The Hyderabad City Police launched an intensive investigation after receiving complaints from victims who finally gathered courage to report the crimes. During interrogation, the arrested accused revealed that over 10 people were involved in the criminal network. The gang had been operating for several months and targeted multiple young women from influential families in the upscale areas of the city. Police are continuing their investigation to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects.
The arrests were made following coordinated raids conducted by the police across multiple locations in Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Investigators have seized mobile phones, laptops, and other electronic devices that contain evidence of the crimes. The police are also working to identify all the victims as many may not have come forward due to fear of social stigma and the sensitive nature of the crimes committed against them.
