    Wanaparthy, Telangana – In a major crackdown, the Kothakota Excise Police seized over 42.5 quintals of black jaggery used to produce illegal liquor known as Natu Sara.

    According to Kothakota Circle Inspector (CI) Karuna, the team intercepted two vehicles carrying jaggery. One, a Bolero truck, was transporting 35 quintals of black jaggery from Chittoor district to Maharashtra. The second, an auto-rickshaw, was moving 7.5 quintals from Kurnool to Pebbera.

    During widespread raids across the district, police also confiscated 20 kg of alum and 4 liters of Natu Sara near Rangapuram in Pebbera mandal. In Jagatpally village, located in Peddamandadi mandal, officers found 9 liters of the illicit liquor.

    Further searches in Jagatpally led to the seizure of 10 kg of alum and 7 more liters of Natu Sara from a person identified as Chevva Naganna. In another bust, police recovered 2 liters from a woman named Jamulamma.

    Authorities arrested five individuals involved in the illegal operations: Subrahmanyam, Kuruva Mohan, Devarasetty Kiran, Naganna, and Jamulamma. Along with the arrests, police seized a Bolero vehicle, an auto-rickshaw, and a mobile phone used in the smuggling activity.

    The raid was carried out by Kothakota Sub-Inspector Prithviraj, along with constables Nagarani, Thirumalesh, Vinod, and Janardhan.

    Police have reaffirmed their commitment to stopping the production and distribution of illegal liquor in the region.
