Nirmal: The Excise State Task Force seized 425 kg of chlorohydrate on Saturday. They also confiscated 1 kg of a restricted sedative called alpha zolam and two cars. Five people were arrested.
Officials discovered an illegal factory hidden in a farmhouse near Chityal on the Nirmal–Bhinsa road. The operation was allegedly managed by Burra Ramesh Goud and Rama Goud, with help from Srinivas Goud, Rajasekhar Goud, and Raju Goud.
The group reportedly brought in a liquid chemical named chloro from Bhiwandi Mumbai. They mixed it with water in drums and stored it underground with ice for about 10 days to turn it into chlorohydrate crystals.
These crystals were then used to adulterate traditional palm sap liquor (kallu), putting consumers at serious health risk. Officers from the STF, TG NAB, and Nirmal police were involved in this operation. Director Shaik Shahnawaz Qasim of the Excise Enforcement Directorate praised the teams for their successful raid.
