Mahabubnagar: District Collector Vijayendira Boyi has asked all departments to prepare thoroughly for the Vana Mahotsav celebrations happening in early June, following government guidelines.
During a meeting on Tuesday at the District Collectorate, the Collector highlighted a goal to plant 58 lakh saplings throughout the district this year. Various government departments will carry out this plantation drive, aiming for strong community involvement.
The Collector emphasized involving public representatives and citizens actively. Awareness programs at the Mandal level are essential to promote participation and highlight the environmental significance of the initiative.
Departments have been instructed to select plantation sites and upload details to the TGFMIS (Telangana Green Fund Management Information System) portal for transparency and tracking. Ensuring enough saplings at nurseries for distribution is also a priority.
“Every sapling distributed must be planted and cared for properly,” she stated, stressing that nurturing the plants is as important as planting them. Officials are encouraged to collaborate to achieve the plantation target.
Key officials, such as Additional Collector (Local Bodies) Shivendra Pratap, Additional Collector (Revenue) Mohan Rao, District Forest Officer Satyanarayana, DRDO Narsimhulu, and other department representatives, attended the meeting.
