The celestial wedding of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita took place at Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy Devasthanam in Bhadrachalam. Thousands of devotees gathered at the temple to witness the event, which was performed by the priests at the beautifully decorated Mithila Stadium on the banks of River Godavari.
The rituals began at 2 am and lasted until 9.30 am, including Abhishekam to Mulavarulu, ‘Druvamurthula Kalyanam,’ and ‘Alankaram.’ The Kalyanamurtulu were then brought to the Kalyana Mandapam for the celestial wedding ceremony at around 9.30 am, accompanied by music and dance performances by devotees.
Chief priests performed the celestial wedding rituals under the guidance of senior priest KE Sthalasai, with support from other priests. Various organizations and dignitaries presented silk cloths and other offerings to the divine couple as part of the tradition.
Government officials, including the Chief Secretary and Deputy Chief Minister, along with other ministers and MLAs, participated in the event. The arrangements were monitored by officials from the Endowments Department, police, and district administration.
In the evening, a procession called ‘Tiruveedhi Seva’ took place with the idols of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita being carried on Chandraprabha Vahanam. The Sri Rama Pattabhishekam ceremony is scheduled for the next day, with Governor CP Radha Krishna expected to attend and present silk cloths to the deities.
