Bellampalli: Gaddam Vinod Kumar, the MLA of Bellampalli, is known for his dedication and hard work in politics.
Born on September 16, 1956, Vinod Kumar is the son of Late Gaddam Venkatswamy and Late Kalavathi. He went to All Saints High School and Hyderabad Public School. He completed his Intermediate studies at Nrupatunga Junior College and graduated from Nizam College in 1975.
In 1976, Vinod Kumar started a business named Veenus Tobacco. Later, he ran a cement factory in Vikarabad, which he eventually sold to India Cements. He was also involved in sports administration, serving as vice president and later president of the Hyderabad Cricket Association from 1996 to 2004, 2004 to 2010, and from 2012 to 2014.
Vinod Kumar’s political career began in 1999 when he contested from the Chennur Assembly constituency but did not win. Despite another defeat in 2004, he won and served as Minister for Labour and Textiles from 2004 to 2009 in the YS Rajasekhara Reddy ministry.
Although he faced several electoral defeats in subsequent years, Vinod Kumar’s determination never faded. In 2023, he returned to the Congress party and won the Bellampalli constituency, defeating Durgam Chinnaiah of the BRS by getting 82,217 votes.
