Hyderabad: The state government has created a plan to raise large amounts of money by implementing the Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS). This scheme aims to clear over 25 lakh pending applications from the past four years.
Special teams, including officials from the Revenue, Irrigation, and Municipal Administration departments, will review these LRS applications at the field level before approval. There will be a special focus on expensive lands within Greater Hyderabad to prevent government land from being encroached upon.
During a video conference from Bhupalpally, Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy instructed officials to clear all pending applications within the next three months. The conference revealed that out of the 25.7 lakh pending applications, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has 3.58 lakh, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has over 1 lakh, other municipal corporations and municipalities have 13.7 lakh, and gram panchayats have 6 lakh.
The Revenue Minister emphasized that this task should be completed as a priority. He instructed the Revenue, Irrigation, and Municipality Departments to form multi-disciplinary teams to clear the applications. Help desks will also be set up at district collectorates and other government offices to assist with the process. District collectors, along with GHMC, HMDA, and other municipalities, will monitor the progress of the LRS applications in their respective areas.
Given the high market value of lands under HMDA, the Minister gave specific instructions to officials to be cautious. They need to ensure that layouts are properly regularized and that no government land is lost during the process.
