Illegal sand mining has started again in Koilkonda, with large amounts of sand being dumped near Suraram Bridge. Social activist and president of the Nenu Saitam organization, Diddi Praveen Kumar, has called on District Collector Vijeyendra Booi to take immediate action. He urged officials to seize the illegally dumped sand, which is worth ₹30-40 lakh.

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Praveen Kumar said that the illegal dumping took place on Friday night near Suraram Bridge. He claimed that the sand mafia is back in action, transporting sand from four unauthorized sand reaches in Koilkonda. According to him, about 25 to 30 Benz trucks are used every night for this illegal activity.

Praveen Kumar also pointed out that despite several complaints, local police, revenue officials, and mining authorities have failed to stop the illegal sand trade.
