Hyderabad: The selection process for the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards has officially begun with a key jury meeting held on Wednesday. These awards are a major initiative by the Telangana State Government to honor the film industry.
The meeting was led by well-known actress Jayasudha and took place at the Telangana Film Development Corporation (TFDC). Organizers received an impressive 1,248 nominations in various categories. The jury will start screening these entries on April 21. During the meeting, members discussed plans to ensure the evaluation is done fairly and transparently.
TFDC Chairman, Dil Raju, spoke to the jury and stressed the need for honesty and fairness in selecting the winners. He said these awards should help bring Telugu cinema more recognition at the national level. According to him, such a large number of nominations had never been seen before, even during the combined Andhra Pradesh days. He expressed faith in the 15-member jury, made up of experienced professionals chosen by the government.
Jayasudha thanked the government for trusting her with this important role. She said it is a big responsibility and promised to carry it out with sincerity and commitment.
Dr. S Harish, Managing Director of TFDC, shared more details about the entries. Out of the total nominations, 1,172 came from individual categories. The remaining 76 were from feature films, children’s films, debut films, short films, documentaries, film criticism, and cinema-related literature.
