Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology in Banjara Hills has opened a new Centre for Functional and Female Urology. This center aims to help women with urological issues that often go untreated due to social stigma and lack of awareness.
The center specializes in diagnosing and treating conditions like urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, recurrent urinary tract infections, and other complex female urological disorders. It offers advanced diagnostics, rehabilitation, and surgery, providing women of all ages comprehensive care in one location.
A standout feature of this center is its all-women operation theatre. This space is staffed entirely by female healthcare professionals, including surgeons and nurses, ensuring privacy and comfort during procedures. The center also provides pelvic floor rehabilitation, with non-surgical programs like pelvic muscle training and physiotherapy to help women regain bladder control and improve their quality of life. Additionally, advanced urodynamic studies are available to assess bladder function and diagnose issues such as overactive bladder and urinary leakage.
Doctors at the institute have observed that many women suffer in silence due to social hesitation. Over five years, their female urology team has completed over 300 complex surgeries, leading to the creation of this specialized center. Healthcare experts see this as a crucial step in encouraging women to seek timely medical care and focus on their urological health. The center is now fully operational, providing personalized care in a respectful and supportive environment.
