    Hyderabad: The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, criticized political parties for neglecting the celebration of Telangana’s freedom and urged people to distance themselves from these parties.

    On the 75th Telangana Liberation Day, Amit Shah hoisted the National Flag at Parade Grounds in Hyderabad. He paid tribute to the martyrs who fought for Telangana’s liberation and credited Sardar Patel for his role in achieving freedom. Shah mentioned that Sardar Patel compelled the Nizam’s army to surrender, leading to the integration of Telangana, the Marathwada region in Maharashtra, and Bidar in Karnataka into the Indian Union. He also acknowledged the contributions of heroes like Kaloji Narayan Rao.

    Shah highlighted that the Liberation Day was not celebrated by governments in the past 75 years and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiating the celebration last year. He emphasized three main objectives of observing the day: celebrating Telangana’s liberation, raising awareness among youth about the struggle, and honoring the martyrs.

    The Union Home Minister condemned the atrocities faced by the people under the Nizam’s rule and criticized political parties for neglecting the Liberation Day due to vote bank politics. He urged people to distance themselves from these parties.

    Shah recalled a significant event on September 2 in Parkala, where hundreds of freedom fighters were killed by the Nizam’s army commander, drawing a parallel to General Dyer’s actions. He also mentioned Sardar Patel’s statement on August 10, 1947, advocating for the merger of Hyderabad into the Indian Union. Shah extended his congratulations to the people of Kalyan Karnataka and Marathwada region and urged them to remember the freedom fighters.

    Additionally, Amit Shah noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday coincided with the day and it was celebrated as a service day. He highlighted India’s progress, including its rise in the world economy rankings and achievements like reaching the Moon with Chandrayan and securing the entry of the African Union into the G20.

    The Union Minister also mentioned how the government showcased historical monuments like the Konark Temple to the world during the G20 meeting.
