Heavy rain is hitting the Telugu states, causing streams to swell. In Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, winds from the southwest and west are influencing the weather. For the next three days, expect light to moderate rain or thundershowers in North Coast Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, with winds blowing at 40-50 km/h. The South Coast will experience similar rain but with lighter winds of 30-40 km/h. Rayalaseema will also see rain, with strong gusts reaching up to 50 km/h.
In Telangana, constant rain is flooding areas, especially in the joint Adilabad district. The Tarnam Vagu in Bhoraj mandal is overflowing, disrupting traffic to Jainath and Bela as a temporary bridge is submerged. Chikman Vagu is also swollen in Sirikonda mandal. Floods are impacting the Gaddenna Vagu project in Nirmal, but farmers hope the rain will help their cotton and soy crops. However, in Khammam district, the heavy rain has stopped coal production, affecting about 18,000 tonnes. The Krishna river is also seeing heavy flow, and the Jurala project is releasing floodwater at 100,000 cusecs, raising concerns about gate safety.
