The President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, criticized the ruling government for not fulfilling their electoral promises to the tribal communities after nine years in power. He questioned why they did not implement the enhanced reservation for tribals and dared Chief Minister KCR to provide a 10% quota for them by passing an ordinance. Kumar also demanded that KCR release a white paper on what he has done for the welfare of the tribal communities in the past nine years. He alleged that the government had adopted the Bengal model of governance by harassing those who questioned their policies and urged them to reflect on their governance. Kumar accused the KCR family of amassing thousands of crores and investing in various businesses abroad.
Furthermore, Kumar criticized the government for its failure to grant podu rights to eligible Adivasis and for inducting only one tribal into the Cabinet. He also pointed out that the KCR Government failed to revive the BILT paperboard manufacturing unit in Kamalapuram and that Mulugu, despite being the district headquarters, lacked infrastructure. Kumar assured the people that if the BJP was voted into power in the next elections, they would revive the BILT unit. He also found fault with the state government for its delay in establishing the tribal university at Mulugu and its failure to earmark required land for the varsity.
Kumar deplored that KCR pushed Telangana into a debt trap by borrowing more than Rs 5 lakh crore and warned that the state’s economy would be in doldrums if BRS retained power in the next elections. However, he expressed confidence that the BJP would come to power both in the state and at the Centre. Sunil Bansal, in-charge of BJP Telangana affairs, Adilabad MP Soyam Baburao, former MPs Garikapati Mohan Rao, Chada Suresh Reddy, Ramesh Rathod, Ravindra Naik, former MLAs Kuna Srisailam Goud and Vannala Sriramulu, BJP State general secretaries Gujjula Premender Reddy, Bangaru Sruthi, and spokesperson A Rakesh Reddy were among others present at the address to the booth level committees in Mulugu.
