Hyderabad: The BJP Telangana unit criticized Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his comments on Naxalism, suggesting it cannot be stopped. The BJP leaders expressed that these remarks disrespect the many tribals and police who have died fighting Naxal violence.
Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, stated on Tuesday that Naxalism is a violent ideology, not just a movement. He emphasized that claiming it can’t be eradicated belittles the sacrifices of brave police and citizens, including Congress leaders who have lost family to Naxal attacks.
The Minister accused the Chief Minister, who also oversees the Home department, of disregarding the sacrifices of the Telangana police. He questioned how the Chief Minister could forget the efforts and bravery of those who died protecting democracy.
Additionally, he alleged that individuals with Naxal backgrounds hold key government positions. He claimed former Naxalites are in the cabinet and one has been nominated for a Padma award. The Education Commission includes people with extremist views, and even a Vice Presidential candidate has Naxal ties.
BJP leaders warned of a coordinated attempt to mislead the youth of Telangana, referring to it as a dangerous move to revive Naxalism under the guise of governance.
He mentioned that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has reaffirmed the Centre’s goal to eliminate extremism by 2026 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He insisted that Telangana should never become a refuge for Naxalites, emphasizing the importance of the constitution and democracy over violent extremism.
