Hanumakonda – Residents living near Somidi Lake can look forward to celebrating the upcoming Bathukamma festival at a newly restored lake.
On Saturday, Warangal West MLA Naini Rajender Reddy announced that restoration work on Somidi Lake will be completed before the festival begins. He made this promise while laying the foundation for new internal cement concrete (CC) roads and side drains in the 62nd division of the Warangal West constituency.
The development project, which costs ₹40 lakh, was launched near the Somidi Hanuman Temple. City Mayor Gundu Sudharani and GWMC Commissioner Ashwini Tanaji Wakade also took part in the foundation ceremony.
During the event, local residents raised concerns about the poor condition of the lake. They asked for it to be cleaned and restored in time for the festival. Responding quickly, MLA Naini Rajender Reddy and officials visited the lake site for inspection.
He assured the community that funds would be released soon to begin the restoration work. He emphasized that the goal is to allow women and families to celebrate Bathukamma in a clean and festive environment.
Reddy also directed officials to complete the road and drainage works without delays. He stressed the importance of using good-quality materials and ensuring that the improvements are ready for public use as soon as possible.
The MLA’s commitment brings hope to locals, who are eager to see Somidi Lake regain its charm and cultural importance.
