Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu has requested Union Minister of Power Manohar Lal Khattar to approve proposals from TSTRANSCO for the intra-state transmission system under the Green Energy Corridor – Phase 3 (GEC-III).
Initially, the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) identified renewable energy zones with a total capacity of 13.5 GW in five districts of Telangana. These zones aim to facilitate the evacuation of power generated from wind, solar, and pumped storage projects.
After detailed discussions with SECI and TGREDCO, and considering factors like land availability and renewable energy potential, the renewable energy zones’ capacity increased to 19 GW, now spread across eight districts.
Following this adjustment, TSTRANSCO submitted a detailed proposal to the Central Electricity Authority (CEA). This proposal includes eight transmission schemes, capable of evacuating 19 GW of power, with an estimated cost of Rs 6,895 crore.
The Deputy CM has urged the Union Minister to quickly approve the proposals for the eight schemes to facilitate the evacuation of 19 GW of power.
