Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu announced that the 4,000 MW Yadadri Thermal Power Plant will be fully operational by January next year. On Friday, he inaugurated the first 800 MW unit, marking a significant step in fulfilling the state’s energy demands.
He mentioned that delays under the previous government in obtaining environmental clearances led to almost a two-year postponement and increased costs for the project. Under the current Congress government, clearances were secured within two months of assuming power.
He stated that the project is progressing with strict monthly and weekly targets. Already, two units totaling 1,600 MW have been made operational. He praised CM Revanth Reddy, Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, and local representatives for their support in meeting these goals. Bhatti encouraged employees not to worry about the plant’s remote location, promising excellent facilities. He revealed plans for top-tier educational and healthcare facilities in the area. Both plant workers and local communities would receive free education and healthcare, similar to what is provided to employees.
Ambulances will be stationed in nearby constituencies, and welfare programs will begin to ensure locals benefit from the plant. Addressing complaints about road damage from heavy vehicles, he confirmed that many CC roads have been approved and construction has started.
The Deputy CM guaranteed jobs for those who gave up land for the Yadadri Thermal and Pulichintala projects by August 15. Additionally, the promised Resettlement and Rehabilitation (R&R) packages will be fully delivered.
