Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu announced that women in rural areas who are part of self-help groups (SHGs) will be trained to become entrepreneurs under the Indira Mahila Shakti Scheme.
The Deputy CM has directed officials to act quickly to promote large-scale solar power production in the state through these self-help groups. Land will be acquired and leased to the women’s groups for this purpose, helping them start solar power projects.
As Bhatti also oversees the Energy portfolio, he mentioned that a meeting with bankers will be organized to secure financial support for the SHGs to set up solar power plants. He added that with a 99% success rate in loan repayment, banks are willing to provide loans to these women’s groups.
The government plans to introduce more schemes to encourage self-help groups to become entrepreneurs. Besides solar power production, other opportunities like managing RTC (Road Transport Corporation) buses will also be offered, along with financial incentives.
Bhatti emphasized that providing financial assistance and entrepreneurial training to women’s groups will bring about social change and help these groups grow financially. To make this a reality, officials from the Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, and Energy departments have been instructed to take up these initiatives.
