In Gadwal, Kampati Bhagat Reddy, President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Aiza Town, led efforts urging action to protect government land from illegal takeover. They submitted a request to Tahsildar Jyothi for intervention.
Reddy highlighted a case involving a three-acre government plot in Survey Number 936, located across from the police station in Budaga Jangala Colony, Aiza town, Jogulamba Gadwal district. This land, initially given for farming 40 years ago, had its allocation canceled after it remained uncultivated.
Despite the cancellation, an individual challenged the decision in court, claiming his rights were unfairly revoked and sought restoration. The court asked the Collector’s office to investigate. However, before any conclusions, the individual put up a sign on the land, falsely asserting court approval and warning against trespassers.
The revenue department is currently investigating, but the land’s status remains unclear. Reddy emphasized that any reallocation should adhere to agricultural use guidelines. Instead, the alleged occupier has altered the land, possibly increasing flood risks for Budaga Jangala Colony during heavy rains.
There are suspicions about plans to develop the land into residential plots. The BJP is concerned this could cause lasting environmental and civic problems for the colony. They demanded the immediate removal of the unauthorized sign and soil mound.
Reddy also argued that if reallocation happened, it should be fair, extending similar opportunities to others, including journalists and the public. He warned that failure to act would lead to large protests by the BJP and locals to protect public land.
Local BJP leaders like B. Nagaraju, Venkatesh Yadav, Veerayya Chari, and K. Rajasekhar supported the initiative.
