The BJP criticized the government’s decision to not bid for the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP). The state BJP chief and a party national executive member held a meeting with party leaders to prepare for a public meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. They accused the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister of taking a U-turn and not participating in the bidding process. They also criticized the Chief Minister for making promises that he hasn’t kept. The BJP sees itself as the only alternative to the current government and is holding a public meeting on April 23 to show its strength.

The BJP believes that there is widespread anti-incumbency against the current government and that people are looking towards them as an alternative. They accused the current government of trying to entice or blackmail opposition leaders into joining them, and failing that, of foisting false cases against them. The BJP sees itself as the only party standing up to the current government and is hoping to win all seven assembly seats in Chevella parliamentary constituency. They are urging party leaders to work hard to fulfill people’s aspirations and make the public meeting successful.
