Hyderabad: Dr. N.V.S.S. Prabhakar, vice-president of BJP Telangana, criticized Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for comments on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day speech.
On Sunday, Dr. Prabhakar spoke to the media defending the Prime Minister’s praise of the RSS. He highlighted the organization’s contributions, such as during the 1962 Sino-Indian war, when RSS volunteers supported the Indian Army. This led Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to invite them to the 1963 Republic Day Parade, acknowledging their patriotism.
Dr. Prabhakar mentioned former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s speech in the Lok Sabha, which credited the RSS for their efforts during the Indo-Pak wars, including aiding with traffic and relief in Delhi. He emphasized that no objections were raised in Parliament, affirming the truth of these claims.
He also cited national figures like Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi who attended RSS camps, praising its discipline and social commitment. Additionally, he noted former President Pranab Mukherjee’s praise for the RSS during a visit to Nagpur.
Turning to Rahul Gandhi, Dr. Prabhakar accused him of lacking historical knowledge and political experience. He claimed that under his leadership, the Congress party has become a regional entity, struggling with corruption and dynastic politics. He pointed out that both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul are on bail, questioning their leadership credentials.
Dr. Prabhakar criticized the Congress for changing its inclusive stance and accused it of minority appeasement. He remarked that the party’s decline began after switching from the cow and calf symbol to the hand symbol.
He demanded Rahul Gandhi apologize publicly for his RSS remarks, claiming they insult India’s patriotic spirit. He urged the public to recognize this “political bankruptcy” and reject leaders who harm national unity.
