Hyderabad: The State President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Sevella Mahender, announced on Monday that BJYM will hold a ‘Chalo University’ protest. This event is being organized to support students and the University of Hyderabad (UoH) community who are opposing the sale of 400 acres of university land.
Mahender criticized both the BRS and Congress governments, saying they had tried to sell school and temple lands in the past. He emphasized that the government should focus on fulfilling students’ needs. He warned that if the government plans to sell university land to raise money, students would strongly oppose it, and the BJP would not stay silent.
He also said that BJYM had sent several requests to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy asking him not to sell the university land, but they have received no reply. Mahender accused the Chief Minister of falsely claiming that there is no wildlife or greenery left on the university campus. He added that the government is harming the environment and that students trying to protect the land were met with police violence.
To continue their protest and protect the university lands, Mahender confirmed that BJYM will go ahead with the “Chalo University” programme.
