Hyderabad: On Thursday, BRS leaders asked the State Election Commission (SEC) to change the schedule for preparing the electoral roll. They cited ongoing floods and destruction as reasons, emphasizing that a delay would ensure better voter and administrative participation.

Recently, continuous heavy rains caused flash floods in several Telangana districts. Villages are underwater, roads and crops are damaged, and thousands of families have been displaced. In these flooded areas, verifying electoral rolls is not possible, and public involvement is affected.

“In this chaotic and turbulent situation, the purpose of verifying the electoral roll cannot be achieved,” stated D Sravan. He urged the State Commission to postpone the Gram Panchayat Electoral Roll preparation and publication until conditions improve.
