Hyderabad: Leaders from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) criticized the Telangana caste survey, calling it a “mirage” filled with secrecy and manipulation. They accused the Congress of disrespecting the Backward Classes (BC).
S Madhusudhana Chari, the Leader of the Opposition in the Council, argued that both Congress and BJP are insincere about BC issues. He claimed that BC reservations have been subject to conspiracies. He condemned comments by Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President Mahesh Kumar Goud, accusing the Congress of betraying BCs with false promises about 42% BC reservations. Chari alleged that Congress has historically empowered upper castes, sidelining BCs.
Chari further criticized Congress for treating BCs as second-class citizens for 75 years. He accused the party of exploiting BC issues for political gain, citing unfulfilled promises in the Kamareddy BC Declaration. These promises concerned various BC communities like Mudiraj, Gangaputra, Vishwakarma, Nai Brahmin, Gowda, Gollakurumalu, Padmasali, Rajaka, Munnurukapu, and others. Party MLC D Sravan Kumar supported these views and urged Congress to stop misleading the public.
Sravan emphasized that the Telangana caste survey is not a true model but a politically manipulated illusion. He demanded transparency from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. In a letter, he accused the Chief Minister’s government of deception and betrayal under the guise of promoting social justice. Sravan described the survey as a deceptive spectacle, pretending to support social justice while lacking substance. He called it a mockery of democracy and BC empowerment.
