Hyderabad: BRS MLA Vemula Prashanth Reddy criticized the Irrigation Minister on Monday for not activating the motors at the Kannepalli pump house. He claimed that the problem lies with Uttam Kumar Reddy’s thinking, not the sagging of any barrages.
Prashanth Reddy argued that when asked to start the motors to supply water to the fields, Uttam questioned lifting water from a sagging barrage. Reddy suggested that Uttam’s understanding was flawed, implying that a single sagging pillar at Medigadda was causing Uttam’s confusion. He accused Uttam of lacking knowledge about irrigation matters.
He highlighted that the water at Kannepalli is at 96 meters, above the minimum drawing level of 93.5 meters. Reddy demanded the motors be started to lift water but accused Uttam of playing politics instead. He questioned how a record harvest of 283 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was achieved if not for the water projects. Reddy challenged the Congress to name any projects, check dams, or irrigation they accomplished in their 19 months of rule. He credited the Kaleshwaram project for filling reservoirs, overflowing check dams, refilling ponds, raising underground water levels, and irrigating fields.
