BRS mourns Shibu Soren’s death, remembers his support for Telangana statehood

Hyderabad: BRS leader K Chandrashekar Rao is deeply saddened by the death of former Jharkhand Chief Minister and JMM founder, Shibu Soren.

KCR called Hemant Soren, Shibu Soren’s son and the current Chief Minister of Jharkhand, to offer his sympathies. KCR reminisced about Shibu Soren’s crucial support during the second phase of the Telangana statehood movement. He praised Soren’s clear political vision during crucial times and acknowledged his deep understanding of people’s aspirations.

KCR emphasized that Shibu Soren’s steadfast backing over 14 years was essential in achieving Telangana’s self-respect. Soren was among the few national figures who attended a significant rally by the BRS (formerly Telangana Rashtra Samithi) in Hyderabad on January 6, 2003, supporting the new state’s creation. KCR noted that Soren’s involvement provided vital direction and national backing for the cause. In March 2022, KCR visited Jharkhand to honor Shibu Soren and express Telangana’s gratitude. KCR remembered him as a respected leader who valued unity in various people’s movements.

Following KCR’s directions, former minister Prashanth Reddy and MLA Kova Laxmi will attend Shibu Soren’s funeral on Tuesday, representing the party. BRS working president KT Rama Rao described Shibu Soren’s death as a major national loss. KTR praised Soren as a dedicated democratic warrior who fought for self-governance, tribal rights, and regional dignity.
