Hyderabad: The Supreme Court recently made a decision that KT Rama Rao, the working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), welcomed. He urged the Assembly Speaker to disqualify BRS MLAs who switched parties. He also called on Rahul Gandhi from Congress to prove his ‘PaanchNyay’ commitment by ensuring these MLAs are disqualified.
Rama Rao insisted that the Speaker act quickly in respect of the Supreme Court’s judgment to disqualify the defected MLAs. He highlighted that Rahul Gandhi, who frequently discusses constitutional principles, should adhere to his statements about defections. He stated that by-elections should happen in 10 constituencies and the BRS is prepared to win. Rama Rao believed that truth and justice had won.
He thanked the Supreme Court for defending the nation’s democratic principles, indicating that deceitful tactics by some representatives won’t weaken India’s democracy. He accused Congress of attempting to mislead the courts, which ultimately failed, saying the verdict proved Congress’s “unethical politics” wrong.
KTR demanded the swift application of the court’s decision and challenged Rahul Gandhi to show genuine commitment. He reminded Gandhi about his ‘PaanchNyay’, which supports automatic disqualification for defectors, urging Gandhi to accept the Supreme Court’s ruling. KTR posted on X (Twitter), daring Gandhi to uphold his own principles and not abuse the Speaker’s role to undermine the Indian constitution.
He criticized Congress for having inconsistent views on defections, depending on whether they are in power or opposition. KTR pointed out that it was obvious these 10 MLAs illegitimately joined Congress, participating in official activities daily, as he emphasized in his tweet.
